_Official Biography
September 12th, Mic Angelo was born and raised in the neighborhood of Overbook, Philadelphia. Right from the beginning, life was hard for him. His older brother had witnessed police brutality in the porch of there home, the man shot a corner store cashier while robbing the store and was beaten half to death. Too young, but always remembers the stories his brother would tell of the man getting beat. The incident has always impacted his personal belief of what a cop's job really is, and all respect was lost for them long before his adolescent years. Michael was raised by his father, and his mother. He was the youngest of three siblings, having his older brother, and his older half sister who was the daughter of his father's before marrying Mic’s mother. This led to the two not having a sibling bond throughout there whole life. Mic Angelo was born in the midst of the first of many collapses of the household. His father, a member of the US air force, caught a sickness during Desert Storm and was discharged, leaving Mic's mother hopeless, trying to pick the pieces up to keep her family in the best possible way she could. She would file for welfare, as well as gain two jobs as her husband was unable to work. The family would remain at the lower class of citizenship to even this day. Mic soon grew up in these conditions, inside a broken down family, in which he would not see current members of his family. Normal families in the neighborhood would see these people, but Michael's family was not a typical family. He didn't get to see them due to conditions and problems inside and outside the family. During school, Mic was a troubled youth. Throughout his younger years, he was always an outcast in school and by his peers. The only kids that would accept him were the kids that were considered "Bad" and "Troubled". Michael would see his friends sneak out of school, go out on the streets, and sell drugs. The earned many pockets full of dirty money. He would also see his friends leaving with their older brothers, throwing up hand signs. Michael would later realize that these were gang affiliated. The school would later crack down and expel these kids for everything they had done. Michael then started showing signs of aggression against the kids that bullied him, and would later get into many fights that he would use as learning experiences in his life. Enraged by this; his older brother, introduced Michael to a style of music called "Rap". The first rapper, who would later become Michael's spiritual teacher as well as his inspiration to rap music, was Tupac Amaru Shakur. This "Tupac" character started saying in his music to start fighting back, and don't continue to take this bullshit. Infatuated with the beats, and the sounds, and the language Michael became infused with Hip Hop. He was soon making his first attempt to write music at the age of 9, and would rap them to his close friends to see their opinions. When he was a teenager, he would leave Philadelphia, his home for 14 years, and would move to Lancaster and York, PA. He carried his reputation with him, and would later meet, and get engulfed with, gang activity. People from states like New York, Baltimore, and other ghetto locations would be the base of his gang affiliated friends. Most of them dead and locked away now, Michael took the advice of various friends, mostly close friends, that he should stop repping a gang before he turned up murdered. They told him to roll by himself, because his own words and feelings are his strongest weapons. After many years of pent-up emotions, Michael took the musical approach. He always says in his music, that Philly is his heart and soul, his home, and the place were he became who he is today. Where he crawled on the porch, learned the rules of the game, and his introduction to rap. Philadelphia is his home forever. He continues to strive in the art of music, for his family to have better conditions then they do, as well as to help society progress further.
Asked many times by peers that are alive or gone, "What is your goal for music?", his answer is always the same. “Its not about the money, the fame, or even the bitches. It's about being able to give back to his family and to be able to give back to Philly, and then other ghetto communities." He strives to help bring back block parties, get single mothers better living conditions for their children, dope heads and prostitutes legitimate jobs, parks and community centers for the children in the ghetto, so they can get off the street and make their life and time productive instead of putting their souls in the hands of the ghetto and drugs. Michael says that he loves everyone from the ghetto, whether they are black or white. He considers them his family, in which he will always remain true, to them as well as himself, to bring a message to the world. That during the 70's, 80's, and 90's the killings haven't calmed down, that it's even worse now, and that communities need to be unified or else "They will all fall". Michael has dreams of one day seeing race or location as an issue. he strives for all races to see that, even though our color is different, at the end of the day we're all bleeding the same color and all dying.
In conclusion, Mic Angelo is the embodiment of rap music. He eats, breathes, and even shits it. In his eyes, the generation of today needs a leader with a message, and needs to progress with music as well as send a message of rage, violence, understandability, and pain. To connect with people on a spiritual level and let them know their stories, and their life, has not been forgotten in his eyes. He continues to grow with the community and his raps, "ONE DAY AT A TIME"!
